"Spider-Man" Pepper Spray Bracelet Looks Like a Toy
Posted by Matt Buchanan at 9:40 AM on November 2, 2007
Aside the fact that it's easy as balls to spot from a mile away thanks to its impressive heft and blue hue, Domonique Torrence's Spider-Man-inspired pepper spray bracelet comes close to being a useful idea. It's loaded with pepper spray cartridges, so you just slam the button in your palm to disperse the mild irritant into your attacker's face or other body part(s) without fishing around in your purse for a can. It's coming out later this year for 30 bucks, and if nothing else, it'll match your similarly bulky, ugly Crocs. [Local6 via CG]

Not nearly as intimidating as my earlier idea for hockey sticks that spray maple syrup scented acid. Granted I didn't consider the self-defense application for that at the time.
Don't get any ideas, Domonique. My lawyers are all over this now.

Gee, it's pretty unfortunate that there was some sort of need for "quick-ready" self defense device like this..and yet also with cartridges, so when you run out, you can recharge your unit and keep on going...sorta speak.
I am glad that I have not had the need to use one of these, yet carry one.
Next they'll have something like a bio force field. When you're in danger, you hit a button and your body is electrically charged. And when someone touches you, they're become an instant grounding unit and get shocked and fall over.

They do have something like that. Some sort of jacket...I wish I could find a link.
Well, here's one:

but I remember a different one with fur...and when you turned it on, the fur got all static-electricitied and sparky and hissy.

Ha ha! Take that crocs! Zing.
(I've never even tried a pair on, but everybody's wearing them and I just don't understand why. Not understanding makes me frustrated and fearful, so I hate the crocs.)

Heeey, don't'cha know crocs and gators are incompatible, or at least the demo version I saw on CNN had a Florida Gators Logo. o.o Anyway, it really depends on how well it stays on the wrist and how easy it is to trigger the pepper spray. Too easy, and you spray yourself in the eye by mistake etc. So, if it works, it doesn't really matter that it looks out of place.
Still, the best way to prevent crime is to avoid it in my opinion. This is by not putting yourself in such a situation. For example, if you don't want to be raped don't go anywhere alone that you could be taken advantage of. You don't want to be robbed, don't walk down the street at night, wait till day-light and etc.
