Recoilless Auto Shotgun Fires 300 Rounds Per Minute, No Cleaning or Lube Required
Posted by Adam Frucci at 7:15 AM on November 20, 2007
The Auto Assault-12 (AA-12) is an automatic 12-gauge shotgun can fire 300 rounds per minute and is recoilless. Basically, it's incredibly powerful and you really, really, don't want to be at the wrong end of it. It's also claimed that it requires no cleaning or lubrication ever, although I'm not really sure how that would work. In any case, you don't really care. What you care about is that it's a big gun and makes loud noises and busts stuff up real good. look forward to killing many terrorists/Russians with this in Call of Duty 5: Are You a Bad Enough Dude to Rescue the President? It's like a bomb going off that you can aim.
Round: 00 ("double-ought")
Size: .33" (8.4 mm)
Pellets: 8
Basically, 8 rounds per shot x 20 round clip. 160 rounds just short of 9mm in size is sure to lay down some suppressive fire. It's just in time for Quake Wars too!

I don't see how it would need no cleaning after firing regular rounds. One of the main things you do after firing a firearm is clean out all the carbon that built up from the rounds you just fired. I know that with either my pistol or my rifle I can take it out fire like 50 rounds and take it apart and it's got carbon dust all inside so how would this shotgun be any different.

@DustyButt: Yes I do. Several sources in fact. I know that Blackwater is in some deep schitt and their tactics are being put into question. I'm just making an observation about the host of the show. Here you've got a guy that comes across as the perfect fit for their organization. He seems to get off when showing new weapons. To me that's in keeping with the characteristic portrayed in the media of the typical employee of Blackwater deployed out in the field.

"low-recoil" != "recoilless". You can't get rid of recoil altogether with standard firearms; it's just not possible. You can reduce it with a lot of travel on the bolt/slide, but there's still gonna be some force imparted to your shoulder.
That said, I saw this episode of "Future Weapons" like 3 months ago. Nice gun.

1) Its a shotgun, as its buckshot it just spreads out, after even 50ms, that shit would be everywhere, and u'd have shit all chance of hitting a target.
2) Is it just me...or did it barely punch a hole thru plywood from 20ms away?
Don't get me wrong, this is a badass gun. But its a shotgun ffs, its suited to close range. DOES NOT HAVE A 150M RANGE.

@drewheyman: Max effective range for a 12 gauge 2 3/4" slug is about 100 yards, With a sabot it jumps up to around 125 yards. But even the top of the line sabot has about 3' of drop at those ranges and this weapons sighting system is a scaled up version of that found on the M-16.
Also I just found another article claiming it has an effective range of 200m, not 150m.

isn't the 150m range supposed to be ONLY for the fin-stabilized grenade round? I've seen the video and nowhere they said that it has a 150m range for normal ammo (I seem to recall hearing 100ft, which seems a lot more reasonable for that) OTOH they did say that due to the fins that particular round can be used up until 150m or so, ranges previously unthinkable for a shotty.

@wdreamsmaycome: [www.defensereview.com]
is an article that is basically a reprint of the PR material that the manufacturer hands out.
just search for either "200m" or "range" and you'll see the reference.
They actually claim 200m for this weapon. and fin stabilized or not you still have the same initial velocity of around 15,000-16,000fps and it slows rapidly from there; hence the enormous drop after 100+ meters.
Don't get me wrong, this is probably a great CQB weapon, but I get the feeling that they are trying to sell this the way the Bradley was sold: "It can do anything. It's even a sniper rifle! Honest injun!"

As far as the real world instrument, while I admire it's effectiveness, I can never get too excited about new advances in weapon technology, considering that sooner or later some borderline-psychopath Blackwater merc is going to shred a third-world neighborhood to hamburger for looking at him funny. Hell, maybe closer to home than that, even.

Stupid/evil as this sort of weapon is, it's an interesting way of getting around the usual problem with automatic weapons, which get inaccurate real quick once you try to empty a clip with one trigger press. With a shotgun, inaccuracy isn't as much of a problem.
Still, wow, talk about a solution looking for a problem.

-Ansar al-Islam
-Jama'at al-Tawhid wa'al-Jihad(Al-Qaeda in Iraq)
-Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's Sunni network
-Jaish Ansar al-Sunna
All terrorist groups, all operating in Iraq. Where do you think the IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) that our soldiers and Iraqi citizens face on a daily bases are coming from? Local chapter of the Girl Scouts? By definition terrorism is The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons. That means every time a bus or a police station or a school is blown up in Iraq by a person or a group trying to intimidate or coerce the US and current Iraqi government, terrorism has been committed by terrorists.
Terrorists have been streaming across the border into Iraq since Saddam's regime was toppled, and probably before that. Even if you are rabidly against war, at least be informed. "Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"
