iTunes 7.5 Released, Download it Now
Posted by Charlie White at 10:35 PM on November 6, 2007
Just as we expected, iTunes 7.5 was released to the masses today, but you can stop your mind from wandering because there's not a whole lot of excitement surrounding the release. The headliner is an interactive music game called Phase for iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod (fifth generation). But the meat of the release consists of bug fixes and security patches to fix a hole where the rain came in. Oh yeah, the release also allows international iPhone activation, for all those grateful countries to finally join the iPhone club. [iTunes]

seems to work faster and my stable with a library on a network share. I might just be dreaming, but searches and loading take half the time.

There still is one big bug that prevents me from running iTunes, it only works with Windows and Macs.
It's about time for some Linux love.

@omg-ponies:
I think two things are involved:
1) People are lazy and don't want to drive down to their local music store to buy a CD.
2) People want instant gratification. They hear or think of a song, and they want to buy it immediately.
3) It's usually cheaper to buy an album online; it's hard to find an entire album for $9.99 on the shelf.

I am always puzzled at the benefit/appeal of downloadable near CD-quality rips of albums that have been available on CD for years. Physical media has the benefit of archival backup, maximum quality (unless you have a real good turntable) and often is the same price or less.
The hype surrounding both the Led Zeppelin and Beatles catalogs is bizarre given that neither band has released a new album in over a quarter century. Moreover, the box sets for each have also been available for years.
Are people really too resistant (for whatever reason) to the idea of ripping their own CDs?

Scrubs is owned by ABC but is run on NBC. It's a weird situation, but it's not owned by NBC/Universal and therefore is not part of the NBC/Universal iTunes split.

My simple question is this: Can i buy an iPhone in the US, and because of iTunes 7.5, activate it in France/UK/Germany?
With the exchange rate, there's ~45% markup in Europe.
