First iTunes-Only Movie On Sale Today

Purple Violets, a new film written and directed by Edward Burns, will become the first feature film to launch exclusively on iTunes when it goes on sale later today. You can pre-order it for $12.99. [Purple Violets via Mac Rumors]

If movies were available on iTunes Canada this would be bought already. I've never bought a digital-only movie but I've been following Ed Burns since his first release and think this is a really bold move on his part. I'd like to support it.
Straight to video is reserved for titles that either don't get distribution deals and/or stink.
Burns decided to go this route from the start to increase distribution. He's never made (written and directed) anything that wasn't fantastic and judging by the trailer he has another stellar film here.

@mullingitover: classic! Ditto that thought. And shouldn't the price on such offerings be a little lower than a DVD of a classic blockbuster movie?
