Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Posters, Trailer Are Mildly Sexy
Posted by Charlie White at 5:45 AM on November 27, 2007
After years of production and planning, coming on January 13, 2008 is the TV version of the venerable Terminator series, entitled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (AU: it's scheduled to screen on Channel 9 here). Depending on your point of view, it's either going to bring a fresh new Terminator into your home every week or completely ruin the entire franchise. Nevertheless, on the next page check out the trailer and arty new posters released by Fox to hype the series, featuring the tough babe cast as Sarah Connor, Brit actress Lena Headey. That gallery is SFW unless you're toiling your life away in the midst of the Amish (and Mennonite) community.
If we get to look at her every week, this show has potential.

I saw the pilot for this a few months back and it wasn't totally unbearable. One of the biggest problems it will face is using TV budget special effects when people are used to the money that James Cameron threw around.

When did this happen? I would have thought this would be bigger news. Firefly chick looks like the only thing worth watching this for.

The trailer is pretty lame. It's kinda of like some Smallville nonsense or something that would be on those lame networks where they host movies all day that are just horrible. I dig the posters though.

Thats not Sarah. Summer plays a kid going to school with John that turns out to be a terminator sent back in time to help protect him.
Its a pretty good show. Its been availible for awhile in "places".

Rachel @decerbo: Yea, I too have to disagree. Rachael, Zhora or Pris from Blade Runner or maybe 7 of 9 on ST:Voyager were pretty good female robots/cyborg/whatever. My fave was the short lived Sgt. Eve Edison from "Mann & Machine" played by Yancy Butler.

@EMoShunz: I imagine it had more to do with the fact that this effectively stomps all over the Terminator franchise. You know, same kind of reaction that you get when spidey sprouts organic web shooters.
I've never been a super big fan of the franchise. The third one effectively ruined all of it for me anyways and the way that the next movies are shaking out don't give me much hope for the future.
I did enjoy this though. I'm sure it contridicts the hell out of the books, comics, and probably even the movies but it was a fun ride for the most part. It was definatly a "FOX show" complete with the obligitory skin shots they manage to sneak in, but it was still fun.
I want to get me some of those posters.

As long as there are horny little nerds stitting in front of their TVs talking about how "Hawt" some chick actress is, the producers will continue to push these sort of programs. This show will give Geeks the two things that they love most, sexy girls and a reason to complain.

So the series is going to depend on Skynet sending back a new terminator every week? It'll get old. They should have centered it around the actual war in the future, and damn the FX costs.

Summer Glau and Lena Headey were wonderful though.

Didn't "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" already completely ruin the entire franchise?
Speaking of which, if they follow the plotlines set up in T3, doesn't John Connor say his mom died from cancer? So, we can pretty much assume what the series finale is going to be... but it will probably be canceled before then anyways.

I love Summer Glau, I love Firefly, I love Serenity, I hope this new vehicle for Summer is great. I think Fox is the biggest asshole in the whole TV goram world for cancelling Firefly, and I can't wait till Serenity 2 and 3 (come on, Joss, you kinda promised us Browncoats a 2nd and 3rd installment on the movie front, and the actors are still raring to go. Get em while they're still young and hot!!)
Seriously, Fox, kiss my f+++ing ass right in the dirty spot for cancelling that incredible show. You truly are short sited P'sOS.
And, by the way, all loyal Giz readers: If you haven't bought the DVD sets yet, go out and buy em. This is one worth supporting. If you haven't even WATCHED the shows yet, then get ready to thank me. I mean, SERIOUSLY thank me, for tuning you in.

I don't understand how they can do something like this and keep continuity with the films. Does it take place before 1 and 2? Between 2 and 3? After number 3? Wait... hmm. Sounds like an interesting concept, but undoubtedly, FOX will ruin it. They have ruined at least two of my favorite shows by prolonging them, keeping them going too long, and ruining the plot.

I have the same problem with the last ad as I do with Ghost in the Shell. This is an excuse to mix sexuality with brutal mutilation fantasies by covering it up as "They're just robots!" Robot or not, a female trophy bust, entrails hanging, is grotesque and the fact that they're trying to turn you on with it is even more gross.

It premier is pretty good. They find a way not to mess up continuity by creating a branch in the time continuity. Instead of driving south as in the movies, they stop and make a conscious decision to change the future. A nifty time travel trick also allows them to get 'lost in time' so no future 'super terminators' can come back, making the ongoing serious more manageable.

@banmojo: Thats what I was thinking too.
Pretty much the only reason I watched Drive too, which ended predicatably. Adam seems to be doing well on his new show though. Jewel and Morena both did the stargate thing. Its good to see Summer in a leading role.
You know whats funny though. The last one that I'd ever think would head back to fox is doing just that. Whedon's writting a show for the network again.
I guess technicaly he's writting for Dushku 'cause she'd the one that has the production deal with them. Apparently she asked for his help and he's doing it. Just one more reason to look forward to the end of the strike.

This will only get my attention if the series is something like multi-millionaire and happens closer to the future than on present day.
But from the trailer, I'm already guessing it won't.
Also, if they ever make another Terminator movie, the above rule applies.
No more terminators getting back to the past to save or kill someone please...
