Dumb Crooks Drop Clues In MySpace, Facebook, Second Life

Turns out, it's a dumb idea to post "I just killed two cops" on your MySpace page. That's what some idiot did, and learned the hard way that cops are rediscovering their home computers, and hitting MySpace, Facebook and even Second Life in search of clues.
Sure, there have always been the badge-wearing nerds at the back of the forensics lab who knew how to "Google" things and check the "e-mail" of bigger, dumber cops. But now other officers are wising up, according to an AP story. Homicide detectives and beat cops are going online and just poking around, and the dumbasses who think they won't get caught by blabbing on their public pages are, well, getting totally nailed.
In one recent example, a detective in Newark, N.J., tracked the alleged killers of three college students by mining MySpace pages maintained by the suspects and their friends. In another, pictures and prose posted online by the killer of Taylor Behl, a 17-year-old Virginia college freshman, connected him to the victim and ended up revealing where her body was stashed.And yeah, I'm embarrassed to say that it was in my home state of Indiana that some dick actually did write "I just killed two cops" on his MySpace page. As it turns out, he was even wrong about that: one of the cops survived. I suppose he will soon think of the state prison as his "second life." [AP]

@Ericnet69: I remeber seeing about this kid in NJ who got arrested for gettin it on with a dead 90 year old woman in the morge of the hospital he worked out. When they showed his pick on the news (spiked hair with blond frosted tips)

Thankfully most criminals are just plain stupid. I know cops who mine MySpace pages all day long and just log gang members, their affiliates, their tattoos, their gang signs, the guns they display in their pictures. Really, they are so stupid.

@jeffj-nj: Much agreed with your sentiments.
It kind of makes me wish that caning were legal in the states. No... scratch that. It really makes me wish that caning were legal in the states. That and and warm salt water bath afterwards. Yeah... sounds about right.

Kids are stupid. Theyre the easiest to arrest. And when they &*#@ their pants, its because they found out they arent immortal. Dumb kids, the bane of every society.

@HeyBeav: I agree. The primary issue here is that he took the life of a human being whether it was a cop or not. I would expect someone that stupid to brag about it on the web. I hope his cell mate is allowed to post some pictures of their romance on the web.

Ya know what pisses me off? I mean, REALLY pisses me off...
That someone would even right that at all. That the through ran through his head this was something "cool" to write. He was proud. He wanted others to know. Heck, for all we know, other people did think it was cool too. He might've even earned some kind of respect for it. I mean, if he didnt' think he was going to earn respect, then why would he have posted it at all?
People suck. I mean, really, really, fuckin' just suck. Not everyone, of course, but still... Goddamnit, that pisses me off.

I love when the news looks up criminals myspace page... When they showed his pick on the news (spiked hair with blond frosted tips) then then showed his myspace page which had playboy bunny logo's all over it and everything. You couldnt even read anything on the page they just showed it so you could see the playboy logos and the kid would look like a dbag who was acting like a player when he could only get 90 year old dead chicks lol...

I gotta say, I really dig the pic. Its pretty badass.
