Dirt Devil Portable Extractor Illuminates Your Pet's Evil Side
Posted by Wilson Rothman at 1:42 AM on November 29, 2007
If you have dogs or cats that like to sign their names—and by that I mean piss—in every corner of the house, Dirt Devil has a potentially miraculous solution for you. The $US100 Purpose for Pets Portable Extractor has a 3" brush with mounted blacklight LED for illuminating stain patches that may be easier to smell than spot. The thing shoots out cleaning solution to finish the job. Question is, when the cleaning is done, can we use the blacklight system for an impromptu Laser Floyd show? [Dirt Devil via UberGizmo]

wow so is that what happens when a dog pisses on the carpet... THE WORD STAIN is written in dog piss... dogs are truly smart... but cats are still better

Um... you know that blacklight LED will illuminate human stains, too...
I'm just sayin'.

Every now and then my 11-year old Yellow Labrador produces a big cow patty in the middle of the living room. This thing would probably backfire on that so I guess it can only deal with pee right?

cat piss is the absolute worst. nothing any pet store has sold me ever works. i'd love to see if this actually removes the stuff or is just another $100 in Mr. Dirt Devil's pockets.

I'd like to see this thing cope with what my large chocolate labrador can create.

Eh, I think blissful ignorance is the way to go with pet stains. Keeps you from getting really angry with the little buggers. Clean the obvious ones of course, but the ones you don't notice might as well stay unnoticed until you get the occasional full house steam clean by a professional. I think if we really knew every single stain left by our pets, even the really well-trained ones, we'd be unpleasantly surprised.

Will Bissell be suing Dirt Devil for totally copying their Little Green/Spot Bot?
Looks just like theirs, except for the black light, but you can those in the "as seen on tv" section of your local CVS for $10.
However, as an owner of two dogs, I can categorically state that to not have a Bissell Little Green and to have a puppy is insanity and good for your puppy's health (so you won't get very pissed off when accidents occur, because they're so perfectly fixable thanks to this amazing device).
Before I got mine, I used to go through an entire roll of Bounty and still not blot up all the puppy pee. No more.
Don't forget: pee is only part of the doggie triad of household soilings. Poop and barf are also perfectly cleaned up by these hand-held carpet cleaners.
