Daft Punk Bearbricks: Musicians and Robots and Bears...Oh My!

ToysREvil has the scoop on a limited edition pair of Daft Punk Bearbricks, meant to coincide with the release of Daft Punk's Alive 2007 CD. Medicom will release 3000 of these toys on December 5, package them with a copy of the CD and sell it for 5250 Yen ($A55), presumably in Japan. The Bearbricks also come housed in a pyramid, not unlike the one Daft Punk used for their epic live shows. The set as a whole looks pretty sweet, but I think I like the earlier Daft Punk/Medicom collaborations better...and now I sound like an obsessive DP fanboy. [Medicom via ToysREvil]

@concrete_d: Yes. Seriously, I've tried to like Daft Punk and I think they just suck. Like not kinda suck, but really annoying and bad suck.
Bearbricks I haven't tried to like, though every time I've gone to the site to see what else they have I'm just befuddled as to what people buy. Their toys a) don't make a reference to pop culture, which is what would make me buy one or b) make a reference to pop culture in a way that ensures I want nothing to with them, i.e., selling bears that are affiliated with Daft Punk or Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (see site).

I don't get it either, I guess. I see bear, in the ugly chrome teddy bear dressed like the Gimp, but why brick?
