Bicycles With Mega Soundsystems Need Mega Bikelocks
Posted by Sean Fallon at 9:40 AM on November 30, 2007
You may have seen some bicycles tricked out with huge soundsystems before, but probably not all in one place. Today the NY Times ran an article examining this extremely confusing and expensive hobby &mdash complete with about 10 sweet photos and a video. One of the examples featured a 5000-watt system that cost in the neighbourhood of $4500. The example above even features a tv screen and DVD player. Personally, I wouldn't enjoy the prospect of pedaling one of these things up a hill or getting bikejacked and shot by some crazy dude on the street. [NYT via Boing Boing]

Man, that is hard case! Check how flat the back tyre is, even with the training wheels on the sides

@strider_mt2k: Once again, you win the thread with an observation not even relevant to the topic. Sheer genius my friend.

I love how they don't even try to make it look nice. Just slap a bunch of shit on a bike, and crank it up.

Friggin' Chevy Aveos with their $10k sound systems...
I worry about these people; they're young, first jobs, lots of dough.

Young adults used to invest in their first homes;
more recently though they rent, and invest in their automobiles. Now bicycles?

..what you don't see is the regenerative braking and solar panels. If that gets jacked, he's near a downhill. Because on level and uphill slopes, he still has a chance of recovering the vehicle.

Wow. Talk about ghetto blasters. I don't think the guy in the picture is going to pedal very far with the back tire as flat as it is under all that weight.

I'm thinking of using some speakers I already have to make a small bike system...but what the hell. This is just dumb.

I remember in high school, when I loaded up a bookbag with some spare speakers so I could jam as I rode my bike to school. Imagine how awsome i looked cruising into the parking lot with my afro, sunglasses (not aviators unfortunetly), and michael jackson blaring from my bookbag. All I would have needed would be a handelbar mount for my PDA right?!?!?!!!

I've seen bike systems like those in Jamaica.
When I was 18 and first working in a lower pay job I recall that a loss of even $100 in Vegas was devastating to me. There was no way I was ever going to come up with $1000 to buy any great electronics and the thought of $4000-5000 was utter fantasy.
For these "mostly teenagers" listed in the NYT article they sure do seem to have a lot of disposable income. Clearly it is all from legitimate sources...

That's pretty amateur stuff. I've loaded up my hunter green suede loafers with a duo-octophonic suprainternal surround sound 12,000 watt system, brah. They look and sound hyperphenomenal, if anyone wants to come over and look at them. I can't move.

After somehow acquiring and putting together all that look-at-me-roar-shit the retard doesn't have the muscles to pedal it anywhere. Pshaww!
