i bought 2 ipod nano's since i had an apple gift card and was stuck buying from there. got to use my 6-7% corporate/education discount as well as the $11 off on each.
unfortunately they charge tax so it cancels out the bf sale part of it. ended up getting both for $305 plus tax ~ $327 minus my $213 gift card.

Gosh,
I sure wish they would have given the MacBook a 50% price reduction and perhaps given the MacBook Pro a 60% reduction. And being that it is me that they are selling to, I think the Touch and iPhone should have been 75% off! I am so disappointed that Apple kept the prices of their top selling items that are flying off shelves at full price at either full price or $101.00 dollars off. Don't they know it's me who was coming to shop!! I am so disappointed. I think that they should give me a complimentary copy of Leopard just for stopping by!
All of you are just bitchy whinners! Why in the hell should Apple need to do much at all when they have popular and successful products! If you make a good product, you don't have to give away the farm in sales pricing. Idiots!!!!

very crappy... but on a related note Amazon is having a one-day sale where you can buy 2004 office for the Mac for $25 (after rebate) and then be eligible to receive the 2008 upgrade for $7.
THAT is a very good deal.

this is exactly what the prices were last year, and at least there is a discount, 2 years ago there wasn't a black friday sale at the store.

Headlining cnnmoney.com article states that the Zune is a best-seller at stores.
[money.cnn.com]
According to Storch, the hottest sellers were the Microsoft Zune MP3 player, Transformers toys, Hannah Montana dolls, Nintendo's Wii and the Guitar Hero videogame.
I wonder what an average holiday would to to AAPL. They've been having such extraordinary years recently that I think the market's expectation for their performance is awfully high. The resurgence of competition in Apple's core product lines combined with this tepid discounting strategy might really breathe life into the Zune this Christmas. Plus, are people still talking about the iPhone? I don't know why, but the hype for the thing seems so absent this holiday.
These pathetic discounts are being weighed in a consumer's mind with mp3 player competition, superheated PC discounting, and aggressive cell phone marketing. That's a witch's brew for shareholders. I think average iPod sales would hurt the stock, but any weakness or slowdown with iPhone would sharply correct their valuation. Combine one of the first two with any potential weakness in Mac sales and it could cause a freefall.

i should say, illegal in canada, not sure about the usa.
i am disappointed with the sale, but on the plus side, i am not tempted to buy anything and get in trouble from my wife :)

I'm thoroughly disappointed. Only a handful of items are discounted, and nothing that I was hoping was is.

Whoa, that's a great deal on the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1. I've been trying to decide which waterproof camera to buy for while and I hadn't even heard of this one. Hmm, I wish it was rated deeper than 5 ft though...

. . . and by "Santa Rosa, faster processor speeds and new LCDs," I meant the MacBook, of course. (I'm not selling my hand-built-by-Ivers backlit Santa Rosa iPod to anyone.)

The Macbook and iPod discounts are useful for people who aren't students or educators. The refurbished models aren't as attractive due to the implementation of Santa Rosa, faster processor speeds and new LCDs in the latest iteration. If I were interested in buying a new laptop, this sale would be the perfect opportunity.
Still -- no deal on the MacBook Pro, iPhone, iTouch or Logic seems a tad unfair.

Um, are these not the same prices they offer everyone on the education discount? Is it just me, or are most retailers offering Safeway Club Card deals. Where they raise the price of a product, then sell it for the price of what they normally sell the item, and call it a sale. Or they sell discontinued crap and highlight it as a sale.

throughly disappointing. Can't believe that I woke up early for this. Not to mention that it took them 40 mins to update the site.
