Man on the Street: Are Normal People Looking Forward to Leopard?
Posted by Jason Chen at 7:00 AM on October 27, 2007
Our man Richard Blakeley went down to the Apple store and interrogated New Yorkers about the new OS (huh? Apple's got a new OS?). It seems that people actually know about Leopard, even though they're not exactly sure what it does. We just hope the new FEEENDER improvements help that poor man with his FEEENDER. @TheBear91: Yes. Yes Vista IS the greatest thing ever. I'm pretty sure everyone here agrees.

@applebasher: And I suppose you think Vista is the greatest thing ever?
Vista is the finest example of an beta product being shoved onto the masses.
I do think that this 10.5 should be a bit cheaper than the $129 that Apple has charged for each of the previous upgrades, but hey, at least it's not $399, err, $299, err, $499, err, WTF is with all the damn versions of the same OS??

Just another half-baked half-finished Apple Product they are testing out on all those rabid fanboys...
Bend over & take like a fanboy... You know you love it when apple sticks it to ya...

P.S. The space background is lame. But it's not as lame as the fisher price people in Vista.

I'll agree that this was the smoothest OS upgrade in my 25 years of IT experience. My god, it didn't even bork Parallels. Parallels will fry if you sneeze at it.
Anyway, is it worse to be charged $130 for a "point release" that really is a major overhaul, or $400 for what should be a point release and is just marketed as a new version?

@Player2: I upgraded with no probs at all, seeing nothing but improvements. Im gonna drop the IT card here and say out of all the OS' that I have ever upgraded this has been the smoothest.
@day_dreamer: then find pcmodo, or holycrapmycomputercrashedandmyaudiodriverdoesntwork.com to post to.

Ask Yoshi if he's looking forward to Leopard?
As I remember he stated:
BY YOSHI AT 10/09/07 09:41 PM
Something doesn't seem right about Apple's "silence" going into October's delayed release. Every thing's a rumor until Apple confirms or denies Leopard's release.
Feels like another Leopard delay to me.
17 days until GOLD!?!?!?! No Way, IMHO!
Then when challenged by DriveGenius about the delivery date from Apple
BY DRIVE GENIUS AT 10/09/07 11:51 PM
@yoshi:
And you'll shave your head and post the video on YouTube if you've wrong?
Please?

@DRive Genius:
Better yet. I will shave my head and post it here.
I won't even ask you to do anything if it's delayed.
So is he a man/woman of his/her word?
Let's see the shaving of Yoshi!

What's to look forward to? Being charged another $130 for another point release that will claim to install easily but then force you to do a clean install? Otherwise you can hold out with Tiger for a while until the few useful mac apps out there start requiring Leopard.
Personally I hate when they release new versions. It usually means a huge pain in my ass. And what's with the space background again?

How about interviewing people not coming out of an Apple store? How about interviews where some didn't know what Leopard was? How about it huh?
