iShoes, Movin' and Groovin' at 15MPH
Posted by Charlie White at 12:50 AM on October 25, 2007
Why roll around on a Ferrari Segway looking like a dork when you can look like a dork rolling around on these electric iShoes at 15mph? At least you'll be able to wear your own kicks when you strap into these things, which fit men's shoe sizes 8 to 12 and women's sizes 7 to 10. Get these babies up to speed and you might just want to sing the body electric.

Created by Minnesota inventor Ilya Kaganovich, the total weight of both shoes is 16 pounds, and they have a range of five to seven miles on a charge (as long as you're not going uphill). The 4-inch wheels are supposed to give you high-speed stability, but it still looks like that control cable with its hand brake might have quite a learning curve. Wear knee pads and a helmet, and make sure your insurance is all paid up. Looks like fun, though. There's no word on pricing or availability just yet. [iShoes]

Not sure what is wrong with regular rollerskates or blades. Go just as fast and never run out of batteries. And you get some exercise!!

I'm reading people complaining about that thing being too small to fit, but seriously... would you use that if it fit?
Man, I could sleep while riding something like that. It's too damn slow. I can WALK faster than that. And I do mean WALK, not run.
Also: They see me rollin'...

These skates are rivaled only by the crapatude of the theme song which plays during the video.
I didn't know whether to laugh at the dork on the skates, or cry as my ears were raped.

I really wanted to see him accidentally roll it in reverse on the escalator but that's just my side that laughs at other peoples pain. I don't think anybodies going to buy these first off the battery probably doesn't last long, second what do you do when you want to go up hill, and third what do you do when you want back down the hill.

I think that you might have gotten the size conversions wrong--but it doesn't matter. nobody will be buying these.

Another drive by gadget with no purpose other than to make a quick buck for the developers, which is evident by the poor design and lack of wireless control (probably would require expensive FCC approval).

as for puttin i infront of your product name... thats because all the good regular names have been taken, it was e for a while... then X ... now I ... I'm partial to the letter q.. so maybe I'll start dropping that on my products// qWater!

(puts on engineers hat)
Looks to me like only one skate (?) is powered, (braked as well?) Involuntary Split anyone? The drive system, is it waterproof? Wet lithium batteries will give you Exploding Foot syndrome. Also the wheel gear is plastic, that metal chain is snacking on it as it turns.

They aren't especially faster than something like a Segway
They're still really bulky
They also make you look like a dork
Is there any upshot to these whatsoever?

@Joseph: Although at base I cannot argue with your generalization, in this case I don't see what a particular countries population has any relevance. I can imagine this coming from in Europe or anywhere else for that matter because realistically we're all insane for the gadgets and create new ways of moving people around.

What better music to advertise a really slow pair of Air Treks than a bay area hyphy beat! :-P
What ever happened to that pair of self-propelled skates? The ones that accelerate when you push down with your feet... Were those ever released?

If I wear these ishoes, I could be a Digital Man Finding My Way through The Trees in the Subdivisions to Lakeside Park, exercising my Freewill to Roll The Bones and become Closer to the Heart.
I wonder if these will cost Big Money.

Most people that can buy these can DRIVE. Can't imagine picking up groceries or the kids from school on these. I can see a cult following at colleges using em for beer runs (not drunk driving if you're on skates) or some retard will do a fundraiser "iCrap across America". Some people have way too much time on their hands. Christ, how long before idiots start putting spinner rims and modding the hell out of these? "Pimp my Skates" just doesn't seem that entertaining.
