Hitachi Mocks Your Manhood, Makes World's Smallest RFID Chip
Posted by Haroon Malik at 10:50 AM on October 29, 2007
Hitachi has just rolled out a worryingly small RFID chip, measuring an impressively tiny 0.15 mm x 0.15 mm x 0.0075 mm. The chip packs in a 128-bit ROM, which is able to store a 38-digit number. Hitachi previously held the title for world's smallest RFID, but the now second place tag was comparatively large at 0.4 mm x 0.4 mm.
The reduction in size was achieved by utilizing the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) process, where the transistor is formed directly on the silicon base. It may be disparaging to know that an RFID chip, measuring 0.15mm x 0.15mm x 0.0075 mm, holds the title for world's smallest item in that category, whilst simultaneously being far larger than your winky. Hey, at least your twinkle can memorize 38-digits... oh, it can't? Why do you wake up in the mornings? [TFOT]

Not that I'm a psychiatrist or anything, but Haroon Malik seems to be always obsessing about small sized, erm, "manhood" during his weekend posts.

@wrenchmonkey26: I don't think many "silicone clad beauties" read gizmodo. Anyway, I prefer natural.

Littlejon, as you went on and on with your geek speak, about 7 or 8 silicone clad beauties passed on by. The moral of the story...Wimmin don't care about that stuff. (not one's with Silicone, anyways). Oh yeah, and about the Hitachi chips, they should market that as part of an anti-theft system. GPS tracking chips that small would be perfect for mp3 players, laptops, etc. Just a thought! :-P

Oh, and transistors are always formed on the "silicon base". That's true for a bulk and SOI process. The key point of SOI is there's an insulating layer of silicon dioxide directly under a very thin silicon over-layer. The devices are formed in the over-layer and the presence of the buried oxide reduces the junction capacitance by effectively making the majority of the thickness of the wafer electrically irrelevant.
Sorry to be pedantic, but as a former-SOI researcher (back in the early 90s) it's important to me.

@lakiolen: Because no woman in her right mind would let you at them with your paltry collateral... you had to ask.

How do larger breasts (silicone) mock our manhoods?

Yes, but it still needs a large antenna!
p.s. It's silicon, not silicone. Silicon allows people to make things smaller, while silicone makes things bigger.

@SomeoneUKno: No, there will be no banhammer for you. You speak the truth. Malik's mighty mouse isn't mighty at all; it is as tiny as an anorexic atom... sometime I cry.

@theimmc: No. He just likes being a bully. Just think about the concept around bullying for a second: People bully others in order to feel better about themselves... So, in a way, he bullies us about having a small penis when in reality he himself is not happy with his own penis size. Plus, what if women read this post? Does that mean they have penis's too?
Hey, look from above! Here comes the mighty banhammer to take me away!

My winky can only memorise 5 digits, but I can temporarily clear its memory if my hand goes to sleep.

@wrenchmonkey26:
GPS tracking chips? What does that have to do with RFID?
As to your comments about Littlejon's post... Based on your statements, I'm inferring that you believe you're more attractive to women because you're dumber than he is. It would also appear that you go out of your way to irritate random people and put words in their mouths. You can't seem to read either, because he never implied he thought women cared about what he was talking about.
If either of you would have 7 or 8 silicone clad women pass you by as you were speaking, it would be you.
