Limited Edition White PlayStation 2 Bundle Dated for Nov. 4th

11:20PM October 27, 2007 | Haroon Malik

A limited edition SingStar PlayStation 2 bundle, which we told you about before, is set to hit the mainstream by November 4th. The pack will contain an exclusive ceramic white PlayStation 2 (previously a Japan exclusive model), the complete SingStar Pop game and two microphones. The package will retail at US$149.99 and if you don’t have enough ceramic white gear in your life, this is the way to go. [Playstation.Blog]

AU: Haven’t we had this version available in Australia for, like, months? All year? The US isn’t much of a SingStar market, so I guess they get the dregs on this one. Or I could just be very confused. -SB

Oral Hygiene Monitor Narcs On Your Jacked Up Teeth

10:50AM October 27, 2007 | Sean Fallon

When you go to the dentist the last thing you want to divulge is the fact that you drink 12 Mt. Dews each day. So why the hell would you voluntarily use an oral hygiene monitor that informs you dentist about your bad habits? Each day you would bite down on the plate and insert it into a unit that can be placed anywhere in your home. The information collected would be sent to your dentist and archived to determine the best course of action for correcting your teeth. The device is only a concept at this point, and my guess is that it will stay that way. After all, why do you need a dentist to tell you that you are not brushing and flossing regularly? You know that chewing gum and drinking Mt. Dew doesn’t equate to brushing your teeth and using mouthwash right? [Yanko Design] More »

Speeder Argues That His GPS Unit Proves the Police Radar Gun is Wrong

10:20AM October 27, 2007 | Sean Fallon

If you have been on the fence about picking up a GPS unit for your car, consider this: accused speeder Shaun Malone of California is fighting a speeding ticket citing that his GPS system proves that the police radar gun is wrong. According to the police report, the 17 year old Malone was going 62mph in a 45 zone. However, his stepfather (a retired police sheriff) argues that the data shows that he was not speeding in the area where the infraction occurred. He notes that a GPS unit capable of tracking speed is far more accurate than a radar gun, which is subject to human error.

Currently, it will be up to a Sonoma County traffic commissioner to decide whether data collected by a GPS unit is capable of overturning a ticket. As you know, the results of that ruling could have far-reaching implications for those desiring to stick it to the man. [AP via Ars Technica] More »

Leopard Deliveries Delayed at Apple’s Request?

9:45AM October 27, 2007 | Jason Chen

Update: Wait, what’s going on? Is Apple actually the one responsible for FedEx shipment delays? This is what we just got in our tipbox:

This is absolutely astonishing.

I’m on the phone right now with [redacted] , Customer Advocate for FedEx. She, and [redacted] , employee #[redacted] , Operations Manager at the San Jose Express delivery station, are claiming that Apple specifically requested that FedEx disregard the “Priority Overnight, delivery by 10:30am” service Apple shipped Leopard out under, and instead “DEC17″ the Apple packages, which means to deliver them by 5pm instead of the contractually-obligated 10:30am time dictated by the Priority Overnight delivery requirements.

Battery Powered Yarn Illuminates Clothing, Mostly Breasts

9:20AM October 27, 2007 | Sean Fallon

Researchers in England have developed a battery powered textile yarn that can be used to illuminate the clothes of joggers, cyclists, or outdoor workers for protection. This electroluminescent yarn, or “EL yarn,” is technically a multi-layer electroluminescent film composite material made from yarn and dipped in a special light-emitting ink on the inside, with a insulated covering and a second layer of yarn on the outside. When electricity runs through the yarn and ink, an electric field is created that illuminates any point where the outer and inner layers of yarn touch. Naturally, this would have a myriad of non-practical uses, not the least of which would be drawing more attention to the breasts of female club-goers. [TG Daily] More »
