uRock MP3 Player and Speaker Amp is Fit for Smurfs

2:56PM October 14, 2007 | Haroon Malik

Like your penis under an electron microscope, the uRock guitar MP3 player and amp speaker look regular-sized. Again, like your penis, they are in fact teeny-weeny, but unlike your maggot and peas, the uRock set has a use. The guitar in the set functions as an MP3 player, with 1GB storage and support for MP3 and WMA playback. More »

Smart Bra to Detect Breast Cancer Rapidly

12:25PM October 14, 2007 | Haroon Malik

Anyone who devotes their life’s work to ensuring the well-being of breasts and to fighting the honourable fight against cancer, in our opinion, deserves the Nobel Peace Prize over environmental activists that have a household energy consumption 20 times the national average. Prof. Elias Siores, director of the Centre for Research and Innovation at the University of Bolton in the UK, is such a fellow. He has invented a product called the Smart Bra, which is hoped will be used to detect the initiation of cancer-forming cells prior to any substantial proliferation. More »

Content feed borked – working on it

Flag
10:32AM October 14, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

Something snagged in our back-end feed system on Friday night, and our monkeys are hard at work trying to set things right. Apologies for the weekend devoid of fresh news. Go visit the mothership for now, then come back and see us again Monday. -SB More »

Apple Online Store Says Virus = Windows

9:56AM October 14, 2007 | Haroon Malik

How we nearly laughed our little lungs out when we read this one. If you go down to the Apple Online Store and search the term “virus,” you will get one result; a smiley face, titled Windows, followed by the text; Why you’ll love a Mac. View the latest TV ads to find out more. It is a bit unnecessary because everyone knows Windows is pants, but we understand a few Microsoft fanboys might be upset—so this PS image is for you: [Techno Juice] More »

NOA Design’s Tub Lounger Concept Merges Relaxation With Relaxation

8:45AM October 14, 2007 | Haroon Malik

We like to relax in the bath and chill out reading magazines in the lounge. So, why not do both together? If NOA Design’s concept ever sees the light of day, we may be doing just that. The super lounger consists of chair submerged in the main tank, with a tap feature that has an integrated halogen lamp. Inexplicably, a built-in lavatory is missing. The ultimate de-stress contraption gets the imagination to work and makes us think of annoying slang—no we won’t “chillax.” That’s not even a word! Great, now we need to take a bath and kickback in our lounge to overcome the annoyance. That is going to take ages; if only we could do both at the same time…wait…[Born Rich] More »

iPod Wins T3′s “Best Gadget of All Time” Award

8:00AM October 14, 2007 | Haroon Malik

You will call us fanboys, you will say we love Apple more than our own mothers, you will state we have had sexual relations with sheep and proclaim you have photographic proof. Despite all the evidence supporting your assertions, one thing is certain; Apple’s iPod has just scrolled home with T3′s “Best Gadget of All Time” award, and we weren’t even on the panel. More »

Sneaker Pimps Functional NES Footwear

7:15AM October 14, 2007 | Mark Wilson

Spotted at the Sneaker Pimps tour finale NY, these NES shoes are probably the greatest thing ever. We can only assume they play NES games, and if such is the case, we declare this footwear to have “won.” Gizmodo will now give up its quest of searching for the ultimate gadget, and will return to its original mission: a blog focused on the teachings of the character Gizmo and his/her various hairstyles. Yes, it will be a step down for us all. We apologise for this shoe’s awesomeness, but retro gaming footwear is a force that cannot be stopped. [flickr via crunchgear] More »

The Gadget Wars, Who Won/Lost Last Week?

6:29AM October 14, 2007 | Mark Wilson

Every week is a battle. There’s seldom any bullets and generally no poison gas. But every week is a battle for the consumer mind and the consumer heart. Here’s the way we saw things this week: one big winner, one loser and one company that’s dead in the water. More »

Samsung to Beyoncé: We’re Not “Ready for All This Jelly”

4:43AM October 14, 2007 | Mark Wilson

When Samsung promised to make their “Beyoncé-themed phone,” a curvy mock-up made the rounds of gadget locker rooms everywhere. But we knew it would be complete crap. And we were right, as proven by the SGH-F300′s (UpStage’s) new red and gold paint job (completely void of curvy goodness). Even if Samsung didn’t make their music phone to look just like Beyoncé, they could have at least modified it for us to lick its toes…we’ve got nothing.

But if you could have the ultimate celebrity phone, whose would it be and what would it do? We say Burt Reynolds. And the only thing it has to do is have an awesome stache. [akihabaranews via therawfeed] More »
