Electric Band-Aids for Fast Relief

10:20AM October 13, 2007 | Sean Fallon

Our future cuts and scrapes could heal a lot faster if this HealFast electric Band-Aid concept ever enters the marketplace. Actually, HealFast is specifically designed for patients with diabetes in an attempt to address the chronic ulcers and pressure sores that they often experience. Once applied, an electric charge would generate a very weak field that prevents infection in the surrounding tissue. A far cry from those crappy Pokemon Band-Aids I use now. [Yanko Design] More »

NEC’s 14-hour Laptop Lasts Until Japan

10:00AM October 13, 2007 | Jason Chen

NEC’s 12-inch VY10A C-4 battery will last you an entire flight across the Pacific thanks to the 14.5 hour battery it’s got on board. With a combination of low-powered components like an ultra-low voltage 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo, a big battery, and not very many spare parts (950 grams total at its lightest), you’re going to be throwing in the towel before it does. The C-4 also has 1GB RAM and a 40GB hard drive, though we wonder how much more time you could get on it if this were a flash-based drive instead of a standard disk. One To The Power Of Four Equals Honda Awesomeness

9:20AM October 13, 2007 | Sean Fallon

At this year’s LA auto show, Honda pulled out all the stops in the design category with their One to the Power of Four solar hybrid. The challenge was to design a vehicle that will be on the streets a half century from now, and Honda decided to devote their energy to solving the carpooling dilemma. The car is actually four individually operated vehicles in one, and they can be “instinctively reconfigured” thanks to a blend of gyros, artificial intelligence, and molecular engineering. When combined into a single vehicle, commuters could take advantage of HOV lanes. Carpooling—that’s great. Honda had me with the looks. [Autobloggreen]

A brain-computer interface (BCI) system has been developed by the Keio University Biomedical Engineering Laboratory that allows a Second Life avatar to be controlled simply by a user’s thoughts. By using a electrode-equipped headpiece that receives signals from the brain’s motor cortex which is connected to a EEG machine, the thought- moving data is sent to the BCI system.

Sol Shaver Solar Razor Keeps You Civilised Even in the Wilderness

9:00AM October 13, 2007 | Charlie White

You never know who you may run into when you’re travelling in the wilderness, hiking the long trails and climbing those big mountains, so you really want to be clean-shaven, don’t you? The Sol Shaver Solar Razor solves that problem, never needing any batteries, plugs, or any other of those unfortunate reminders of civilisation. It doesn’t look half bad, either, but that shiny quality will cost you $69. Or you could just let that scraggly beard grow wild, for that grizzled outdoorsy look. Fahgettaboudit. The only people you meet out there will be toothless guys talking about what a purdy mouth you have, anyway. [Eco Friend] More »

Red iPhone? Engadget has what appears to …

8:52AM October 13, 2007 | Brian Lam

Red iPhone? Engadget has what appears to be an AT&T internal product list, with a red iPhone listed on it. The part that sounds fishy? 4GB sizes. Why would Apple bring the now discontinued capacity back? Wouldn’t be the first time Low level AT&T employees have provided questionable Apple facts. But coloured iPhones aren’t such a crazy idea if you think about all those shuffles and nanos. [Engadget] More »

8:40AM October 13, 2007 | Jason Chen

GMail’s getting a gradual storage bump to a possible 6GB come January as a continuation of their “Infinity + 1″ storage plan, but is still a long ass ways away from Yahoo’s actual infinite storage. Step it up, Google. [Gmail via Lifehacker] More »
