Reggie Swears Life Upon “Unprecented Wii Supply” for Holidays in North America
11:40PM Matt Buchanan | Talking to San Jose Mercury News’ Dean Takahashi, Reggie Fils-Aime threw a bone to soon-to-be holiday shoppers by vouching for the influx of “substantially more [Wiis] than the launch, substantially more than has been seen to date.” He even uses the word “unprecedented” to describe the supply of Wiis that will gracefully float down from Santa’s sled. At the same time, he makes no promises of abating shopper stampede bloodbaths, “suggesting” it’s still not going to be easy to get your mitts around one come Christmas time. Thanks, Reg. While you can’t dump your $100 in Apple apology …
11:30PM Matt Buchanan | While you can’t dump your $100 in Apple apology moneys directly into your iTunes account or iTunes electronic gift certificates, you can still hit up the Apple Store (online or B&M) to buy iTunes gift cards if you’re insistent on blowing your bucks on tuneage. [TUAW] More »

AnySIM iPhone Unlock App
12:45PM Brian Lam | The iPhone Dev Team just released AnySim, a GUI version of iUnlock. An Installer.app version is coming, so you can pretty much download the file over EDGE or Wi-Fi and run it without having to manually transfer the file to your phone. Here’s our mirror, but as always, most recent versions at the iPhone Dev Team Wiki. Here’s to hoping the next iPhone firmware update doesn’t bork the unlock. As always, there are no guarantees that this won’t fart up your iPhone. [Download from Gizmodo (v1.01) or iPhone Dev Team] More »

Army Builds Foam and Woodchip Humvee
6:30AM Mark Wilson | Next week, the US Army will begin testing a new Humvee that has a body and frame made completely from composite materials fiberglass, balsa wood, foam and carbon reinforcements. Conventionally, the Army has battled with how to protect Humvees from mines because ironically, adding more armour to the vehicles just weigh them down (and bring them closer to the mines). The solution was to build a composite frame that makes the Humvee 900lbs lighter (or about 10%). Beyond the weight savings, the other advantage is that the Humvee is reinforced with different composite concoctions where the vehicle needs the most protection from mines (the rear). Since mines are the biggest killer of US troops in Iraq, such re-engineering should save lives if field testing goes well. [armytimes via gearfuse] More »

Inflatable Killer Robot (Verdict: We’re Getting Closer)
5:30AM Mark Wilson | The Mega Mech Airmagination inflatable robot isn’t quite the My Buddy/Optimus Prime hybrid that we’ve had in mind since age 8 1/2, but it brings us one step closer to the loving embrace of cold, possibly sharp steel talons. Because the Mega Mech Aimagination a fully remote controlled friend. Essentially an RC car with a balloon sticking out, the Mega Mech can also learn a few preset phrases and speak them back all killer-robot-like. The idea is great considering the pricetag is just $40, but something tells me that there’s an Airmagination Rollerskating Doll out there that’s just not being treated right. iPhone Apps Now on iPod Touch (Or Not) [UPDATED]
3:07AM Mark Wilson | Jailbreak, formerly reserved for unlocking iPhones and installing apps, is now in iPod Touch form according to the link below. We’ve known that the internals of the iPod Touchlook mighty similar to those of the iPhone and that, theoretically, the iPod Touch should be able to run iPhone apps without too many complications. [UPDATED: Confirmed as being a pain in the ass to implement and then not working, by Erica Sadun at TUAW] [hacktheipodtouch] More »

D&G Medicine Man Watch, Colorbars Cure Drab Style
2:30AM Mark Wilson | We’re not generally big Dolce & Gabbana buyers, but we love broadcast style. This Medicine Man watch is almost tempting enough to drop the $264. Constructed of stainless steel, the watch features quartz movement, a wonderfully pretentious “indigo” backlight and 50m of water resistance. What do you think, readers? Hot or not? Short answer: hot. Long answer: We’re not reading the comments of anyone who disagrees. [product via 7gadgets] More »
