Bedtime Stories Seem Darker with the Darth Vader Bedside Light

8:25PM Addy Dugdale | Are you sitting comfortably? Then let me breathe heavily. Schooooooooooooo. Once upon a time, there was a Jedi Knight called Anakin Skywalker, who went in search of the Dark Side. Schooooooooooooo. More »

Video of World’s Largest RC Airplane, the B29 Dina Might

7:49PM Addy Dugdale | From Belgium, the B29 Dina Might is the world’s mightiest remote-controlled plane. With a wingspan of almost 30 feet, it weighs 463 pounds and runs off four 160 cc engines. Spin those propellers, mate. [Live Leak] More »

The new version of Winamp can stream your …

7:45PM Matt Buchanan | The new version of Winamp can stream your music library to your Wii. You know, if you still use Winamp or for some reason want to listen to MP3s through your Wii. [Kotaku] More »

Parents Think Wii Zapper Might As Well Come With an NRA Application

7:40PM Matt Buchanan | NJ.com, your source for “everything Jersey” asked people what they thought of the “gun-like” Wii Zapper in their weekly Question of the, um, Week segment. Responses poured in: Great, this is what we need. Children with guns learning how to aim and shoot. Then we can sit back and wonder what is happening to our country with kids killing kids……what’s next? Could we make it squirt blood, too” one reader commented. The catch, though, is that the site had originally posted a picture of a gun other than the Wii Zapper, which let’s face it, looks more Star Trek than NRA. Still, click on for a couple more doses of flailing plastic mold judgment. More »

Slim Apple Wireless Keyboard Ships, Still No Sign of the Apple Logo

7:22PM Jesus Diaz | The Apple Wireless Keyboard is now shipping. Here’s the unboxing of one of the very first, sent by a Giz reader. Looks as razor-sharp as when we had our first grope, but of course, still no sign of the “Apple” in the Command key. All thanks to Steve Jobs and swedish campgrounds full of sculptural blue-eyed blondes: More »

Non-Stick Chewing Gum Invented by British Scientist

7:11PM Addy Dugdale | Thanks to a breakthrough by a British chemist, sticky streets could be a thing of the past. Professor Terence Cosgrove of Bristol University has come up with a chewing gum that dissolves in water and can be removed easily. And it’s all to do with a new polymer, apparently. More »

Tested: iPhone Screen Better Than iPod Touch Screen

4:35PM Wilson Rothman | The iPhone and iPod Touch are presumed to have the same screen quality. But they don’t, according to some testing and reader feedback we did today. The iPod Touch’s screen turns black areas somewhat greyish, washed out shadow detail, with absolute blacks appearing shimmery. (The top image is the Touch. Look at the girl’s hair.) I was going to do some more testing tomorrow to verify with another iPod, but I just got an email from a reader complaining his Touch’s screen “Looks like a negative” in the dark areas. This is exactly what we’re seeing. Here’s more proof: More »

Verizon In a Pissy Mood This Week; Mad at FCC and Bob Marley’s Family

4:30PM Matt Buchanan | First, they’re peeing on the FCC’s auction rules for the 700mhz spectrum that Google and others want a chunk of to do potentially cool stuff with. They’re suing to overturn the open-access rules that would force buyers of certain slices of the spectrum to allow any safe device to use it. For an encore, after pulling Bob Marley tracks his family objected to Verizon selling, “in light of” the family’s statement that it’s “disturbing that these companies refuse to give the musicians the respect they deserve,” Verizon’s promptly restoring all of the content tomorrow. Nintendo DS Gets VoIP Courtesy of SvSIP

4:00PM Matt Buchanan | A member of GBAtemp forums, samuelv, has whipped up a homebrew app that lets you use VoIP on the DS with an SIP account. Yes, phone calls from your DS. Some of the guys in the forum had a bit of difficulty nailing down the settings, but another user, subb, pretty much lays out most of what you need to tweak to get it up and running—several users are now confirming that the app works. If you guys test it out, let us know in the comments if you’re able to call your mommies (or not). [GBAtemp via digg] More »

Killacycle Inventor Crashes at Nextfest

3:45PM Brian Lam | I forgot to tell this story. Apparently one exhibitor on an electric motorcycle took his ride out for a spin, and his throttle jammed. That’s bad on any motorcycle cough*joebrown*cough but really bad on an electric drag racer with a zero to sixty time of 1 second. Creator Bill Dube hit a bus, possibly a school bus, but no one was inside. The guy? He’s in the hospital, and his machine is in bits. Anyone know more or have photos/videos? UPDATE: Dube actually hit a minivan. TG Daily even got a video of the whole thing. In an interview given to editor Humphrey Cheung, Dube claimed “More powerful than anything else, they last longer, they’re safer than anything else out there”. While the batteries may be safe, I’m not sure Dube can say the same about the rest of the bike. It is the world’s fastest electric motorcycle, after all. But seriously, we hope he gets well soon.
