These Two Washers Cost $1 Million

11:40AM Charlie White | We report on a lot of toilet seats here—even some that approach the crazy $600 price the Pentagon paid for one in 1983—but we’ve never seen a couple of washers that cost almost a cool million dollars. Until now. That’s right, folks, this picture represents $998,798 worth of washers, bought by the U.S. Defense Department and paid for with your tax dollars. More »

EA Finally Delivers Those Mac Games

10:10AM Brian Lam | Yo! The Apple store finally has those Mac games EA promised this summer. This week, plenty of Mac sites (with writers who have never heard of this thing called the X-BOX) have complained about the ship delay. As of today, they’re shipping in 7-10 days. The games are Battlefield 2142, Need for Speed Carbon, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. More »

Flash Padlock: For the Paranoid Delusional On the Go

10:00AM Ben Longo | The Flash Padlock, available in 1 or 2gb models, is made for people who think that their data is far too important to be kept on any ol’ unsecured thumb drive. When you remove your thumb drive from the USB port it automatically goes into lock-down mode. However all you have to do is enter in your handy dandy PIN number and poof you’ve unrestricted access to all of your files. Now just don’t go and do something stupid like make the PIN your birthday or 1-2-3-4, OK? [Product Page via Shiny Shiny] More »

Norcool Fridge Hides Food in Cold Drawers

10:00AM Brian Lam | This Norcool fridge does away with the traditional idea of the singular, monolithic fridge, instead tucking your cold food away in drawers. And it’s not a concept. Norcool’s production Drawer Fridge system is not only real, but it could be extremely efficient, too. Top loading fridges and freezers, as Treehugger notes, don’t spill cold as like front door traditional models do. galleryPost('drawerfridge', 7, 'Norcool Drawer Fridge'); More »

R2-Beer2 is My Kind of Droid

10:00AM Adam Frucci | Sure, it can’t repair or refuel your X-wing, nor can it project a video on your wall, but it can get you drunk. If given a choice between the original R2 and this guy… well, I’m just saying it wouldn’t be an easy decision. [Geekstir via Coolest Gadgets] More »

Apple Aluminum Keyboard vs. Old Apple Keyboards

9:00AM Jason Chen | Sure, you’ve probably seen comparisons of the aluminum Apple keyboard vs. the slightly older Apple keyboard. But have you seen it matched up against an Apple Lisa keyboard? Or how about the IIgs keyboard? Chances are slim, unless you’ve already been to Blake Patterson’s gallery page. [Blakespot via Daring Fireball] More »

Chip Shortages Force Nintendo to Delay Expanding Wiis

8:30AM Jason Chen | Digitimes is claiming that Nintendo is having a problem making good on its promise to ramp up Wii production, something that was set for June, thanks to a shortage of IC chips and PCBs. This means that the global Wii shortage will continue well into the second half of 2007, the holiday season and probably into 2008 as well. If you want a Wii for Xmas, you’d better pick one up if you see one. [Digitimes via Kotaku] More »
