Area Man Gets Nintendo Gamepad Tattoo 22 Years Too Late

11:50PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

Why oh why there are no hot buxom Scandinavian blondes sending us pictures of their oily, perfectly suntanned nude bodies with technology-related tattoos on them? Oh, hold on, I know. Because only dorks do that kind of thing. Like this guy with his NES gamepad, who probably should get struck by lighting too. Do you have pictures of your body with a cool tattoo? Yeah? Good. Destroy them. Unless you are Swedish girl. Then you can send them to me tips. [Way Odd - Paul, next time, don't do it] More »

Healing Theater Umine Gives You that Sinking Feeling

11:26PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

So, you’ve pulled The Man From Atlantis/Daryl Hannah in Splash/The Little Mermaid and you’ve won the “My place or yours” contest. This is what you use to set the mood—Umine’s Healing Theater. Costing $84, it emits soothing sounds of the sea—frolicking dolphins, mating whales, that sort of thing*—and projects green and blue lights on your ceiling. Available from the middle of August—I suppose it’s aimed at those of us who won’t make it to the seaside this year—the Healing Theatre runs on four C batteries and can also be used as a speaker. [Himeyashop via Sci-Fi Tech] *Maybe the animal noises are punctuated by the deep parp of an oil tanker’s foghorn, I don’t know. More »

Samsung SGH-G800 is Top Banana 5MP Cameraphone

10:30PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

The SGH-G800 is the last rumored wondergadget from Samsung, a compact camera with 5-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom and Xenon flash, which is better than LED-based ones. If confirmed, the G800 will also have one microSD slot, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 2.4″ 320 x 240 pixel screen. Plus a 3G phone attached too. Shocking. Jump to see the camera on its back. More »

Trail Tune Carabiner Radio Clips on Just About Anywhere

10:05PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

Climbers and hikers amongst you will be interested in this carabiner-shaped AM-FM radio from Trail Tune. It’s water-resistant and you can attach it to just about anything – although I advise against clipping it to any piercing rings, as it might be a bit painful, unless you’re one of those magicians who can pull entire trains along by his Prince Albert – and if you are, I think I might have seen you on YouTube recently. Quick question: did it go back to its original shape, or are you going to be stuck with it like that for the rest of your life?

Battery time (two AAAs, please) is 15 hours and you can preset 20 FM and 10 AM stations. It self-activates sleep mode and can remember the last station you tuned into. All that for $50. [Uber-Review] More »

iMac Ultra-thin Metal Keyboard Images May Show Dashboard, Media Icons

9:45PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

Allegedly, this is one of the images of the new ultra-thin iMac keyboards that have been spotted in a Hong Kong forum tonight. Unfortunately the rest of the images have been pulled, so until they surface again somewhere, we have done some Jack-Bauer-esque Photoshop enhancement and discovered a hint that may definitely prove that this is the mythical keyboard indeed. You’ll be the judge. [Update: We were right. It's a Dashboard icon next to an Exposé icon. Full picture after the jump] More »

22Pop Email Typewriter for Luddites

9:40PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

22 Pop is a modified typewriter that allows you to send emails. You type out the recipient, subject and message on a special template sheet and the message is sent when you pull the finished page out. The website claims that the device can also receive messages, but I can’t see how it could print out an email. The project was inspired by the difficulty that one of the designer’s mothers had when trying to email her daughter. Talking Geek Figurine Talks Geek While you Work

8:23PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

Bang one of these nerdy desk ornaments on the head and it whines “I’m thinking right now.” Bang a real geek on the head, though, and they’ll probably be able to tell you the pressure per square inch exerted by the palm of your hand. I can’t decide which one would give me more fun. [Tokyo Mango] More »

Illuminated Tweezers Look Like Torture Instrument from Blade Runner

7:57PM July 27, 2007 | jenneth

Every household needs a pair of disco tweezers. Made of rustproof steel and shatterproof polycarbonate, they light up the minute you apply pressure to the arms. But can they really remove splinters and hairs that grow where they shouldn’t, because they look more like a set of ice tongs to me. $24.95, they come with three CR2025 batteries and they ship from August 6.
