11:53PM June 21, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

Here’s HPR-3 Promet Mark II, a 160cm-tall robot which can probably snap your spine if you don’t get him a beer case every day. The new 149-pound robot from Kawada is liquid-proof and it will be used in construction until someone realizes that “liquid-proof robot” really means “potential sex-bot.” –Jesus Diaz

Okay kiddies, get ready for the next video play on the Interwebs, and this one’s called Veoh. A beta version of its player will be downloadable within hours, and it brings a few new features to the Web TV watching game. This one has some serious guns behind it, too, backed by former Disney chief Michael Eisner and corporate blowhards from Time Warner. More »

Technonia Slimline (Eek) MP3 Player Launched in Korea

11:08PM June 21, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

Korean company Technonia has launched this rather sexy MP3 player (if you ignore the hideous typeface they chose to emblazon “Slimline” on the front of it). And the fact that it’s called Slimline, obviously.

Pantech IM-S230 Phone’s World Record Thinness Approaches Invisibility

11:04PM June 21, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

The Samsung U600 isn’t the slimmest slider any more, because this Pantech IM-S230 just out-skinnied it by a whole millimeter. Like a couple of supermodels battling to see who can be the first to be completely invisible when viewed from the side, this Pantech phone is just 9.9mm thick, besting the positively corpulent Samsung U600, which at 10.9mm thinks she’s starting to look fat in those short shorts. Dr. Elizabeth Brainerd and her colleagues in the vertebrate morphology group at Brown University have just developed CTX Imaging, a technique that combines computed-tomography, x-ray video and computing post-processing to let you see bones in rapid motion. Like Mr. Crocodile here doing the Jane Fonda on the treadmill. The process and the results are quite stunning, as you will see in the images after the jump. More »

Juice Bag Now Available for Us Chicks

10:08PM June 21, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

Unless, of course, you are a chick that likes backpacks, which I think are too manly by half, then you might be interested in this, a Juice Bag for Lay-deez. It’s a large tote which, apart from being capacious enough for your towel, three bikinis, bonkbuster book and SPF lotion, can recharge your phone, iPod or camera thanks to its solar panels. It’s pricey though, as it will burn a $249 hole in your lady-purse. – Ad Dugdale

Atari Memorabilia to Goes Under the Hammer in NYC

8:09PM June 21, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

Sotheby’s is holding a sale of Americana at its auction house in New York today. One of the lots on offer is described as “an extensive archive of original marketing materials from the ‘Golden Age’ of Atari.”

So, if you want 135 large file folders stuffed full of original sketches, early designs and proofs of games such as Dig Dug, Bezerk, Asteroids, Pong and Mario Bros., then get thee to Sotheby’s, stick your bidding paddle in the air and wave it around like you just don’t care. It’ll cost you, though…

This went down overnight. I can’t actually find a result page on Sotheby’s to report what the final pricing was. -SB

LG Fusic II is Thinner, Grayer, and a Little Bit Ginger

6:50PM June 21, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

This is LG’s Fusic II, successor to the Fusic, and it’s expected to launch in the very near future. Er, what can we say about it? Well, it’s grey with light-up orange controls, 1.3 Megapixel camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth. And it’s lost weight too, down to 99 grams, which means it’s lost over a sixth of its body weight. Give that Fusic II a Weightwatchers button now! – Ad Dugdale
