At the same place we spotted the Rubik’s not-so-magic table, we also found this awesomely sexy version of the Cube. I want one, and you can buy it online for as little as US$5.95. Sweet.

As far as geek side tables go, surely this is a winner. But at US$600, it’s probably better to take it as inspiration for a bit of home handy work. Particularly because this would really rock if you turned one side into a set of drawers, or gave it a secret internal compartment, or something other than it just being a solid block table.
I think it’s time I start my own line of geek furniture. -Seamus Byrne

Like most great ideas, the concept behind Justin.tv is simple: a video stream, anytime, anywhere. But the hardware behind it all wasn’t so easy to make, so Justin called up a friend, Kyle Vogt, to hand-build version 1.0 from some off-the-shelf parts, a grip of EVDO cards and some “borrowed” equipment from MIT.
Following up on the soft Transformers plushies from the other day, these Autobot and Decepticon pillows brings the movie straight to your couch. They’re shaped like the actual Autobot/Decepticon badge symbols, which means they don’t actually change shapes like the actual Transformers.
They’re $22 each, so you’ll have to watch that drool unless you want Megatron to end up smelling like one of the Dinobots after they came up out of a landfill. Or, we suppose, Landfill himself. – Jason Chen

Quick cup of coffee to start the day. I promise I’ll eat a big lunch. Right now I just need the caffeine!
R2-D2 speakers. They aren’t that good, but who really cares?
ESA to run space trips at $318k a throw. Better than $20m+ via Russia, and the money won’t go to Richard Branson!
Oregon Scientific with yet another cool weather gadget. Making an art form of mundane gadgetry.
More detailed follow up on the Monster cable testing. Some interesting results – seems the mid-range cables could be the biggest rip-off.
Sanyo projector shoots big from right up close. Clever stuff. Now just make it 1080p, yes?
Kodak working on new imaging sensor. Never need a flash again? This could do a lot to return Kodak to photographic big time in the post film world.
Samsung 70-inch LCD with localised backlighting. Smart LED backlight pushes contrast up to 700,000:1.
newVideoPlayer("noise_gawker.flv", 475, 376);NY Times badass David Pogue took a look at noise-canceling headphones, looking for a pair that can match the quality of Bose’s QuietComfort 3′s without the ridiculously high price ($350[!!!] ). What he found were a bunch of pairs that did the job decently, and a couple that came close enough to the QuietComforts to make spending $350 an option only a real sucker would choose.
The two that he liked the best were the Panasonic RP-HC500s ($100) and the Audio-Techinica ATH-ANC7s ($132), saying that they cancelled surrounding noise out while also delivering top-notch sound quality. As anyone who’s listened to headphones on a plane can tell you, the ability to shut out that engine noise makes your trip a whole lot sweeter. It’s nice to see some quality choices for people other than the rich and the clueless. –Adam Frucci

It’s confirmed: the Queen loves the Web. And we have definitive proof. Two, actually. First, Her Majesty has just awarded the Order of Merit to Sir Tim Berners-Lee. That’s the most exclusive club in Britain, chaps. It’s limited to 24 living members and getting that funny cross is a personal decision by The Lady herself, not advised by any institution.
I don’t know what they do when they all meet, probably have tea, plumcake and watch videos of English BDSM, but when you learn that Winston Churchill and Bertrand Russell were members, you get the idea of how important this is for good ole Liz.
Second and definitive proof: we got an exclusive GizmodoShotâ„¢ of the Queen using a MacBook reading her favorite blog, right after the jump.
The Samsung Intergalactic Empire keeps presenting hot models left and right. And some LCD televisions too, like this 1080p 70-inch model they introduced today in Korea, the first commercial Full HD TV ever with selective local LED backlighting. The new system, which will be sold around the world during the second half of the year, allows for some amazing features.

Here’s a deeper look at the Walkman phone line’s latest high end model, the W960, most notable for its generous and 8GB of storage, WiFi, 3.2 MP cam, and a 320 x 240 pixel touch screen that can be used to browse media. Sounds familiar to Apple’s offering, except for the physical keypad and it only has European 3G, no EDGE. Then there’s the beet-red w910, seen in May, without touchscreen, but with a playback mode that can shuffle by mood, and by shaking the phone, and access to an online music store. You can’t make this stuff up. galleryPost('w960', 4, 'Sony Ericsson W960'); galleryPost('sew910', 4, 'Sony Ericsson W910');
Yes, they did it again. Danish pals, clown number and technology re-packers Bang & Olufsen want to sell you another Samsung LCD panel in a nice box: the BeoVision 7. Nothing wrong with that. Their 40-inch TV with integrated DVD and central speaker certainly looks amazing, but when Kim Gravesen, B&O Chief here, says she’s “very excited for the arrival of BeoVision 7 as it is truly an unparalleled LCD television and home entertainment unit that exhibits renowned Bang & Olufsen design and technology” I just have to jump in. Three words for you, Kim. Made. In. Korea.
If you want unparalleled technology for its $13,250 price tag, you can get yourself a better Samsung Full HD TV, a good AV receiver and some good speakers. And if you want something to look great on your bachelor pad then burn that credit card in the BeoVision 7. And eat less danish pastry. – Jesus Diaz
AU: Just to add further condemnation, last I knew, it was Samsung who supplied panels to B&O for their TVs. So when they aren’t even delivering the latest in Samsung high-end, and charging a lot more for them, that B&O cache begins to lose its edge. -SB
