    Wow, they actually sold 1 million? Crush Kill Destroy!

    When companies are patenting washing machine docks for your music player, I think that’s a fair sign that you’re dominating the world.

    Actually despite the small number compared to the ipod this is actually quite an achievement for microsoft.

    According to market analysts: the zune marketshare for media based mp3 players in March in the US was about 9.1%. That pretty good considering that it came into a market totally dominated by the Ipod.

    This percentage is close the percentage market share that apple has in the pc market (5% in april). And Apple is lauded as a major player in that market.

    Is the Zune a ipod killer? No of course not. They stuffed up the wifi and other aesthetic issues. But for a half assed attempt at a competitor for the ipod its done pretty well.

    It is still number 2 in the market.

    Its not even available for sale in Australia or if it is, very badly supplied and marketed because I haven’t seen any.

    For now I will stick with my Creative Zen Vision M, as both Zune and Ipod dont play Divx ;p

    no the zune has not been launched in australia. pretty much the only way to purchase one is to go online or go overseas. i did the latter and made sure to buy my case and dock etc while i was over there. the unit has great sound playback, the screen is really nice.

    i think it is a shame that microsoft has no immediate plans to drop the zune on australian shores. i really think it could make a splash.
