Wow, they actually sold 1 million? Crush Kill Destroy!

When companies are patenting washing machine docks for your music player, I think that’s a fair sign that you’re dominating the world.

    Good Luck Zune!

Actually despite the small number compared to the ipod this is actually quite an achievement for microsoft.

According to market analysts: the zune marketshare for media based mp3 players in March in the US was about 9.1%. That pretty good considering that it came into a market totally dominated by the Ipod.

This percentage is close the percentage market share that apple has in the pc market (5% in april). And Apple is lauded as a major player in that market.

Is the Zune a ipod killer? No of course not. They stuffed up the wifi and other aesthetic issues. But for a half assed attempt at a competitor for the ipod its done pretty well.

It is still number 2 in the market.

Its not even available for sale in Australia or if it is, very badly supplied and marketed because I haven’t seen any.

For now I will stick with my Creative Zen Vision M, as both Zune and Ipod dont play Divx ;p

no the zune has not been launched in australia. pretty much the only way to purchase one is to go online or go overseas. i did the latter and made sure to buy my case and dock etc while i was over there. the unit has great sound playback, the screen is really nice.

i think it is a shame that microsoft has no immediate plans to drop the zune on australian shores. i really think it could make a splash.
