Personally, I think replacing ANYTHING with robots is a better solution, but you make a good point.

The whole diatribe of this article totally misses what the OLPC is truly about and shows extreme ignorance of the project as a whole. The OLPC isnt just about the hardware, it is also about "enabling" people and the community via a 100% open computer platform. If a country wishes to build their own version of the OLPC that is 100% legal and exactly what the project wants to happen in the long term. Can one seriously with any claim to sanity imagine Intel handing over all the patents and saying "ok go ahead and copy our design we dont care", hell no. Also were is Intels "community drive", a bit of plastic with keys does not equal the OLPC project because its missing "people" and "community support". What next replacing parents with robots with a milk delivery system and calling that a better solution because it more economical ?

IF you go to any LUG (Linux User Group)meeting you will see people talking about the OLPC and working or assisting on a related projects, I just cant see Intel creating a similar grass roots movement to be honest.
